Atomic Data Becomes a Platinum Mission Investor of Creating IT Futures to Support Tech Workforce Development in Minnesota

Feb 28, 2017

Edina, Minn. – To support tech workforce development in Minnesota, Atomic Data signed on as the first Platinum Mission Investor for Creating IT Futures. Atomic Data has been an employment partner with Creating IT Futures’ IT-Ready career program since 2013, having already hired nine IT-Ready graduates to diversify and expand its workforce.

“As the need for tech-skilled employees explodes, programs like Creating IT Futures are an invaluable resource to the community and its businesses. Atomic Data has, and will continue to benefit from our relationship with Creating IT Futures through their well-trained graduates,” said Jim Wolford, co-owner and CEO, Atomic Data.

Creating IT Futures leads its IT-Ready career program from its office in Edina, Minn. The program provides eight weeks of full-time technical and soft-skills training at no cost to participants, who are unemployed or under-employed individuals. Graduates then sit for the vendor-neutral CompTIA A+ certification exam. Certified graduates are placed into on-the-job work experiences with local employers. Since 2012, more than 300 Minnesotans have been trained and more than 90% of those certified graduates have found full-time IT jobs.

“We’re expanding our programs in Minnesota to help more people find new careers in IT. Last year we had five IT-Ready classes plus offered a new course, PrepareU, for entry-level IT pros,” said Sue Wallace, executive director, Minnesota, Creating IT Futures. “With Atomic Data’s support, along with other employers in Minnesota, we’ll continue to help Minnesota grow and diversify its tech workforce.”
