Learn About the CompTIA UK Channel Community’s Busy 2016

From roadshows to the security initiative, 2016 has been a busy year. Read a roundup of the highlights of the UK Channel community.

As we move through autumn and edge closer to the festive Christmas period, I wanted to provide you with an update on the great work our community has done this year. We are grateful to our community members, who contribute so much to the industry.

Selling into Regulated Industries Initiative

Earlier this year we had a great panel of members from across the industry working to help us understand and achieve success selling into regulated industries such as utilities, legal and finance.  On the back of this work, we created some great collateral including helpful infographics. You can download these here – Energy Services Infographic, Legal Services Infographic, Financial Services Infographic.

On the Road with CompTIA

This year saw the UK team on tour, running a series of CompTIA roadshows in Wales, Ireland and Scotland. We had a great turnout and opportunity to engage with existing and new members. We are currently planning for 2017, which will see us take to the road again, so keep an eye out to see if we will be in a town near you in the future.

Amazing Turnout for EMEACon16

This year’s EMEACon took place in London in early October and had record attendance. The theme was disruption, innovation and business growth. The event was bolstered by great keynote speakers and a range of informative and educational sessions. If you couldn’t attend, please join us for our Best of EMEA webinar that takes place on the 23 November and features Charlie Hutton’s highly acclaimed session  “How to Legally Murder your Competitors Online”. You can read more about EMEACon16 by clicking here.

Great Community Meetings in Leeds and Birmingham

In addition to EMEACon16, the community held two strong well-attended meetings in 2016.  The first in Leeds back in February focused on security, with a theme of turning threats into opportunities. Later in June, we were in Birmingham with the theme of IT as a business game changer. You can learn about what both meetings in CompTIA’s community portal resources section.

Dream IT / Advancing Women in IT

We have had great success promoting the technology industry as a great place for women to work. The community has created a new infographic to promote IT and tech as a viable career option to young people and is currently running a fantastic campaign called Make Tech Her Story. Additionally, we will be participating in the Skills Show in Birmingham, November 17 to 19, which is a great opportunity to reach 75,000-plus more young people with this message. Visit the AWIT community pages. Find out more about Make Tech Her Story.

Security Initiative

Many MSPs seek to add security as an offering to their business, but struggle with how to start. The community has addressed this need by reviewing CompTIA’s extensive content, and recommending key security resources that can best help our members make the change. In addition, we are adding new resources in the form of panels, localized documents and more. Watch for an initiative roundup email in mid-November detailing all of these great resources.

Executive Council Elections

The community is run by volunteer industry leaders who help drive and steer our activities. October saw us run UK Channel Executive Council elections for three open positions. We are now collating the results and will be shortly announcing the new council members. In the meantime, I would like to recognize the fantastic work of our Executive Council leading our efforts in 2016.

New Ambassador Pack

We have created an Ambassador Pack to help spread the word about the value of your CompTIA membership. The kit contains an introduction and tools to help you promote CompTIA, including email copy, a membership flyer with an exclusive promo code, a brochure and a social media policy, all designed to make promoting the benefits as easy as possible.
