    Our membership consists of people who support this mission and are currently in, or aspire to be in, technology careers.

    What We Do

    Advancing Women in Technology (AWIT) believes diversity is good for business and helps companies create inclusive and supportive work environments for all people. The community also provides networking opportunities, develops member-driven initiatives involving women and careers. AWIT supports women working in information technology and helps women and girls discover ways they can play important roles in the industry.

Inspiring Women and Girls to Explore Technology

Dream IT — a program by CompTIA’s Advancing Women in Technology Community — has reached more than 10,000 people with the message that technology is a great place for women and girls.

Discover Technology Careers

The Career Resource Center features resources, testimonials and career tips for people who want to enter IT or advance their work in technology. Use these materials to discover how technology can increase opportunities and earning power for women and girls, bring a balance of leadership styles and interpersonal skills to the technology workplace, and help alleviate the technology skills gap.

Volunteer to be a Dream IT Speaker

You can help — share the message that technology is a great place for women and girls. Find a group to speak to and use the Dream IT Speaker Resources to get a great start on your presentation. Materials are available for the U.S., UK, Australia and New Zealand.

  • The Gap: Women in Cybersecurity

    Opportunities abound in the cybersecurity arena yet only 14 percent of the current U.S. workforce in cybersecurity is female. We will review the current state of the gender gap in cybersecurity and hear from Jennifer Carlson with the US Department of Labor to discuss how to get more women into this field through apprenticeship programs. During this webinar we will review how to begin an apprenticeship program, how to increase the visibility of your current program, and how to engage with programs that are available today.
