CompTIA Opposes Proposed Tracking Software Legislation in Several States

Mar 4, 2019

CompTIAthe leading trade association for the global technology industry, released the following statement regarding legislation that would force states to require the use of tracking software on contract work over a certain size.

"At a time when government and industry are focused on enhancing data privacy protections, we oppose any legislation that exposes government contractors and citizens to massive privacy and security vulnerabilities.

"This type of legislation would mandate the installation of tracking software that states are actively trying to prevent hackers from installing on consumer products. The proposed ‘solution’ is an outdated means of billing verification that focuses on measuring performance by keystrokes instead of mission-critical outcomes."
