USMCA Will Cultivate America’s Growing Tech Sector, Says CompTIA; Encourages Trump to Sign into Law

Jan 16, 2020

Washington, D.C. – The following statement is attributed to Cinnamon Rogers, Executive Vice President of Advocacy, The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), regarding today’s Senate passage of the U.S.-Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA):

“Today, the U.S. Senate passed the landmark U.S.-Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) and provided a win for the American workforce and U.S. economic leadership. USMCA will further cultivate America’s growing tech sector. Canada and Mexico are the U.S.’ leading trade partners in tech supporting 250,000 American jobs and accounting for one-third of U.S. tech goods exports. USMCA also modernizes the rules for trade through its inclusion of the strongest digital and intellectual property chapters found in any free-trade agreement to-date thus, ensuring America’s continued leadership. CompTIA salutes the action by the Senate and encourages President Trump to sign USMCA into law. The association also commends the Administration, U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Robert Lighthizer, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and for delivering a victory for the American people and the economy.”
