CompTIA Supports HACKED Act

Nov 6, 2019

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) issued the following statement from Cinnamon Rogers, Executive Vice President of Advocacy, regarding the association’s support for the Harvesting American Cybersecurity Knowledge through Education (HACKED) Act.

“CompTIA applauds the bipartisan work carried out by Senators Wicker (R-MS), Cantwell (D-WA), Thune (R-SD), and Rosen (D-NV) to introduce the Harvesting American Cybersecurity Knowledge through Education (HACKED) Act. As our world becomes more interconnected, and threats both foreign and domestic increase, the demand for trained cybersecurity workers grows each day. According to research that CompTIA, Burning Glass and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) collaborated on for its Cyberseek report in 2018, last year there were almost half a million cyber job openings.

"Further, according to CompTIA’s own research included in its annual Cyberstates 2019 report, cybersecurity jobs are the third-fastest growing job category in the IT sector. This bill would help expand the cyber workforce pipeline and fill critical careers. The Senate should act soon to pass this commonsense bill.”
