Automation and orchestration are two different but related tasks that allow efficient workflow of any traditional business activities. While IT automation is setting IT activities on repeat, orchestrating is arranging or sequencing the automated activities in a manner that allow for smoother work processes.

“I’ve always seen automation and orchestration in musical terms: automation allows you to replicate a string section, a woodwind section, as well as the percussionists,” Stanger wrote in this article for ADMIN Magazine. “Orchestration sets up a conductor to get all of these sections to work together to perform a symphony.”

He gives a detailed description about cloud orchestration and how to get started.
