The Breakaway Technology Vendor Fair officially opens today at 3:15 p.m.  We’ve been reporting the news to be announced there for the last week, and we’ll keep doing so all this week.  Check out below some of the announcements being made at Breakaway and decide which new tools might be a good fit for your business.

Spiceworks Inc. (Booth #1114) released a new version of its free IT management software with features specifically designed to help MSPs better service their client networks. Some of the new capabilities requested by the 150,000 IT service providers using Spiceworks include customizable client portals as well as a centralized help desk that allows multiple client service requests to be managed from a single console. In addition, the upgraded help desk provides ways for MSPs to track and bill for time and new technology purchases authorized by clients. Spiceworks also is enabling social IT by combining network management, network monitoring and help desk software with a rapidly growing and active Facebook-like community of IT professionals.

Field Solutions’ (Booth #704) second-generation direct-to-technician (D2T) field sourcing and service management system, FS Release 2, builds upon its earlier capability for sourcing and controlling a nationwide network of independent contractors. It improves speed of use by eliminating unnecessary steps in running large volumes of work orders.

N-able Technologies (Booth #506) announced its N-compass™ 3.1 software, an IT performance reporting solution that enables MSPs and IT departments to gather and communicate vital IT and business information across a range of areas – from network availability and reliability, to utilization, regulatory compliance and asset reporting – with ease.  New features and functionality include support for the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 databases and reporting platform, as well as Microsoft SQL Server 2005.  These new features enable users to create a comprehensive environment for authoring, managing and delivering critical IT performance reports that clearly demonstrate the value and performance of IT services to SMBs.

Channel Services Group’s (CSG) (Booth #409) lead referral program claims to have an ROI of $996 for every dollar invested.  The program incents employees and the channel to share leads.  CSG agents will train your sales team and indirect channel sales reps and provide them with its SaaS lead referral and lead management application.

Doyenz Inc. (Booth #1022) launched its “Done By 5 pm” campaign, which includes a three-part video series and online presence and resonates with IT service providers in the reseller channel who frequently work weekends and late nights to support their client base.  With Doyenz’s Shadowcloud platform, IT partners instead can be done with work at a reasonable hour. A Shadowcloud subscription enables partners to leverage the power and flexibility of cloud computing to reduce risk and downtime to their clients. Partners can manage their clients’ cloud infrastructure remotely through a web-based portal.
