We heard from some great folks on a panel talk this morning at the TechVoice Fly-In in Washington, D.C., including Rep. Richard Hanna (R-NY) who discussed the importance of education and STEM including the introduction of bill called the STEM Education Opportunity Act.

We also heard from Brian Forde, senior advisor to the Chief Technology Officer for The White House, who talked about the White House tech summit with the mission to broaden the STEM talent pool.

Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO) talked about changing how federal government bundles contracts which block out small businesses. He wants to break those contracts down to give SMBs an opportunity to win and participate. He also talked about R & D tax credits for small businesses which spur innovation and growth.

We had Sean Green, associate administrator for investment and special advisor for innovations, U.S. Small Business Administration, talk about the challenges SMBs have in accessing capital and the need for these businesses to get more funding across the board. He said, now is the time to discuss tax credits that help SMBs prosper, innovate and grow.

And we had a great presentation from Rep. Bob Goodlatte, chairman of the House Committee on the Judiciary, who said our immigration system is broken and that immigration reform is a top priority for his office. He said the US gives out the most visas per year than any other country but only 6 percent issued are used to fill needed jobs -- that needs to be fixed.
