Member Jacqui Irwin as California Tech Champion

SACRAMENTO - CompTIA, the world’s leading technology association, presented Assembly Member Jacqui Irwin with the 2018 CompTIA California Tech Champion Award for her consistent leadership and support of the technology industry in the California state legislature.

This past year, Irwin was instrumental in promoting thoughtful tech policy legislation with an eye toward stimulating more innovation and job creation in California. She also has become an invaluable resource and tech expert for her fellow assembly members and other state legislators around the country as the Chair of the National Conference of State Legislators’ Cybersecurity Task Force.

“We are thrilled to present Assembly Member Irwin with the 2018 Tech Champion Award for her continued efforts and support of the technology industry and tech jobs here in California,” said Kelly Hitt, CompTIA’s director, state government affairs, California. “Assembly Member Irwin is a key player in ensuring that California continues to be a leader in innovation and that the state remains a trailblazer in digital economic policy. Assembly Member Irwin, like all our Tech Champions, is a strong voice for the technology community and is actively working to ensure that the industry continues to succeed.”

“Since my first term in the Legislature I have focused on making sure tech policy is thoughtful and works to benefit all Californians," said Assembly Member Jacqui Irwin. “The help of many partners, including CompTIA, has made these tech policy wins possible for the people of California. I am deeply honored by this award.”

The Tech Champions award recognizes those legislators who are outstanding advocates for the technology industry in the legislature and have shown consistent support for this vital economic sector. Since 1991, CompTIA has been recognizing state legislators for their contributions to the success of high-technology.
