How to renew your certification

Renewing your certification means showing you’re committed to professional growth. With CompTIA Continuing Education, some options automatically renew your certification, while others require you to submit proof of your activities.

Options that automatically renew your certification:

  • Take a CompTIA CertMaster CE course: The fastest and easiest way to renew for A+, Network+, or Security+ certifications. If you qualify, simply complete the course to automatically renew your certification. The course cost includes your CE fee. Learn more about CertMaster CE.
  • Pass the latest CompTIA exam: Stay current by passing the newest version of your certification exam. Passing the exam will automatically renew your certification.
  • Earn a higher-level CompTIA certification: For some certifications, earning a higher-level CompTIA certification will automatically renew your lower-level certification. Check your certification’s renewal requirements to see if this option applies to you.

Option that requires submitting your activities:

  • Earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs): Submit CEUs from approved activities such as training, coursework, work experience, or community involvement. You can use a single qualifying activity or combine multiple activities until you meet your renewal requirements. You will also need to pay a continuing education fee, which can be done using a CE token.
Note: The number of CEUs required depends on your certification. Check the CEU requirements for your certification here.
