If you were offered a chance to internally audit your company’s procedures while demonstrating sound business practices to potential clients, would you do it? The CompTIA IT Business Trustmark

is designed to do just that. Multiple organisations have taken advantage of the opportunity to differentiate their businesses with this exclusive credential. Organisations best suited for the IT Business Trustmark can be engaged in any type of value-add IT service, as long as they’re based in the UK. The credential validates that an IT company follows industry best practices related to service agreements, standard operating procedures, and systems and tools for delivering its services.

IT Business Trustmark holders get access to a variety of marketing and sales tools to help them drive additional revenue and enhance their reputation in the industry. By implementing this programme’s controls in their organisation, IT companies will help the overall IT channel community increase service levels and reduce costs for their customers, improve overall efficiency and profitability and elevate the professional nature of the industry.

Dufeu IT Solutions, Bear IT and IT Partnership are among those companies that have earned the IT Business Trustmark. They shared why they believe the credential is an asset to growing business.

Greg Du-feu, director of Dufeu IT Solutions, an IT solutions provider based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, said his organisation set out to acquire the IT Business Trustmark to differentiate itself from local competition and confirm it has the correct structure and processes in place. Having earned the Trustmark in December 2012, Du-feu believes inspiring customer confidence is the most valuable advantage to holding a Trustmark. “The primary benefit has been having new and existing clients view us as a more professional outfit than our competition,” Du-feu said. “It gives them the confidence to trust us.”

Alex Rocha, managing director of IT Partnership (ITP), an IT and telephony management and solutions organisation, agreed that the IT Business Trustmark inspires customer confidence but pointed to another reason for pursuing the credential, which ITP earned six months ago. Rocha said ITP wanted to obtain the Trustmark to be viewed as an international organisation. “The IT Business Trustmark shows we have made efforts to submit our business to the scrutiny of an international organisation’s benchmarks,” he said.

While these companies are rightfully proud of their accomplishments, they realize that simply earning the Trustmark won’t do much for business unless they promote it. Mark Lambert, technical director at Bear IT, a company that has held the IT Business Trustmark for nearly a year now, said his company uses the Trustmark logo in e-mail signatures and touts its achievement on its website.

Du-feu has taken his efforts a step further. “We have added the Trustmark and a description of what it represents to our marketing material, promoted the achievement in our blog and even reached out to local business media,” he said. Rocha added that ITP is working to incorporate its IT Business Trustmark status into customer proposal templates as well.

All three companies agree that the IT Business Trustmark is worth it. “This whole process has enhanced our current certifications and shows our customers that we are a committed IT company,” Lambert said. Rocha shares that sentiment. “The Trustmark has validated our internal procedures and the exercise has instilled an additional layer of confidence in our capabilities,” he said.
