CompTIA Seeking Applications for Aspiring Tech Pro Scholarships

Sep 10, 2020

Ten scholarships will be awarded to student members seeking careers in tech

Downers Grove, Ill. – CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the global technology industry, announced today it is accepting applications for its second annual Aspiring Tech Pro Scholarship Program.

CompTIA will award $2,000 scholarships to 10 student members of the association who are pursuing careers in technology.

“The U.S. tech workforce is one of the largest and fastest growing segments of the nation’s labor market, yet employer demand for tech talent continues to outstrip supply,” said CompTIA President and CEO Todd Thibodeaux. “It’s estimated that we will need more than one million new technology professionals over the next decade to support growth and replace retiring workers. CompTIA is committed to doing all it can to build our tech talent pipeline.”

Applicants for the CompTIA Aspiring Tech Pro Scholarships will be evaluated on their contributions to the success of their CompTIA student chapter, their local IT community and/or their commitment to making a lasting and valuable impact on their school’s technology program or the IT Industry.

Nominees must be enrolled in a two-year or four-year college or university, trade or technical school, and be full, paid members of CompTIA’s student program. The scholarships can be applied to the cost of each student’s education, or any of CompTIA’s 13 professionals certifications and related training products.

Qualified students may apply for a 2020 CompTIA Aspiring Tech Pro Scholarship here.  The application deadline is October 16.

Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee and 10 scholarship winners announced in December.

Winners of the 2019 scholarships represented schools and universities across the country, including Arizona State University, Harford Community College (Md.), Lemoyne-Owen College (Tenn.), Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, University of Central Oklahoma, University of Cincinnati, University of Colorado Denver, University of Maryland Global Campus and Western Governors University.

In addition to the scholarship program CompTIA student members have access to cybersecurity competitions, comprehensive career advice and resources, discounts on CompTIA training and certifications and more.
