CompTIA’s commitment to the National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy includes resources for tech businesses and education for middle school students

Jan 18, 2024

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. CompTIA, the world’s leading information technology (IT) certification and training body, today announced a two-pronged commitment to support the White House’s National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy (NCWES).

CompTIA pledged to expand its Cybersecurity Trustmark program to 1,400 organizations by the end of 2024. The trustmark is an organization-level credential for managed service providers, managed security service providers and technology solution providers that adopt industry recognized best practices in cybersecurity. More than 800 companies are currently participating in the program, launched in March 2023.

Additionally, through CompTIA Spark, the social impact nonprofit supported by CompTIA, the possibilities of tech careers are shared with middle school students through free in-school curriculum and other innovative programs. With a goal of serving one million students by 2030, CompTIA Spark is building a future pipeline of diverse talent by offering learning resources, from the fundamentals of tech to the latest in cybersecurity and other cutting-edge, emerging technologies.

The NCWES was developed by the Office of the National Cyber Director in response to President Biden’s 2023 call for a strategy to expand the national cyber workforce, increase its diversity and expand access to cyber education and training. It aims to both equip all Americans with foundational cyber skills and increase access for all workers, regardless of college degree status, to good, meaningful jobs in cybersecurity.

The multi-faceted nature of cybersecurity is reflected in other CompTIA initiatives. CyberSeek™, the most comprehensive source of information on the U.S. cybersecurity workforce, was developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Lightcast and CompTIA. The CompTIA Information Sharing and Analysis Organization delivers proactive threat intelligence and actionable analysis to 1,600-plus organizations around the world. In 2023, CompTIA was inducted into the National Cyber Security Hall of Fame, which recognizes global cyber security leaders for their excellence in technology, education, business, policy, and public awareness. CompTIA was honored for the widespread and positive impact its industry-leading certification program has on the tech industry, tech workforce and cybersecurity profession. Some 3.5 million CompTIA certifications have been earned by IT professionals around the world, including 800,000 in cybersecurity-related disciplines.
