Core information technology job postings in the United Kingdom increased in the third quarter of 2019, up 19% from the second quarter of 2019, but down 17% compared to the same period in 2018. There were more than 165,000 IT job postings in the United Kingdom in 2019 Q3.
The UK unemployment rate was 3.9% for the three-month period ending in August 2019, slightly higher (by 0.1%) than the previous three months. However, this is down from 4.0% a year ago. Between June and August 2019, more than 32 million people were employed, but 1.31 million people were unemployed and looking for work in the United Kingdom.
The size of the IT workforce in the United Kingdom continues to grow and is projected to increase by nearly 12,000 jobs in 2020 and by 3% between 2019 and 2024.
