During the second quarter of 2017, there were more than 350,000 core information technology (IT) job postings, according to the CompTIA UK Employment Snapshot – 2017 Q2.
Postings for top core IT occupations in the United Kingdom during this period included:
- Programmers and software development pros.
- Web design and development pros.
- IT business analysts, architects and systems designers.
- IT user support technicians.
- IT and telecommunications pros.
The UK unemployment rate continued to decline, hitting a 42-year low. It decreased to 4.4 percent for the three-month period ending June 2017, down from 4.9 percent a year earlier.
The IT workforce in the United Kingdom continues to grow, from 1.19 million in 2015 to 1.22 million in 2016. Out of more than 2.6 million total UK job postings for the quarter, 14 percent represented IT job postings.
The most in-demand skills listed in IT job postings in the United Kingdom were:
Software development principles.
Microsoft development tools.
