Rico Singleton currently represents BDPA as Vice President of Strategy and Planning. BDPA is a 40 year old non-profit professional association that has enabled the upward mobility of African Americans and other minorities in the Information Technology (IT) and STEM fields. The mission of BDPA is to build a pipeline of diverse professionals and aspiring students in the STEM and digital technology fields through innovative professional and technical development programs and activities.
Rico is a highly esteemed, senior technology leader, with 18 years of experience in leading and optimizing emerging technologies primarily in higher education and public sector industries. Throughout his career, Rico has led several strategic, technology transformation projects. Rico has served most recently in the capacities of National Director, US Technology Strategy at Apollo Education Group, CIO at City of Baltimore, CTO at New York State Office of Information Technology Services, CIO at Ohio State Treasurer.
Rico has earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Information Systems, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), a Masters of Information Systems Management, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Higher Education Administration at University of Phoenix. Rico has been recognized several times with prestigious awards and accolades, such as Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders Award, CIO Magazine Ones to Watch Award, 40 Leaders Under 40 Award, and a CIO Commendation Award.
