Since 1982, when the first IBM PC was installed in the Product Supply and Trading Department of a Houston based, Fortune 50 oil company (one PC for a staff of forty-three,). Randolph Carnegie has been fascinated by its’ use as a tool for increasing productivity. After spending countless hours experimenting and reading multiple boxes of manuals, he became the “de facto expert” on several software packages. Armed with two floppies, one for the program and the other with the data, he was unstoppable. Thirty plus years and thousands of questions later he is still has not answered his last question. Since leaving the oil company, Randolph has been involved in the IT community as a consultant to numerous small businesses in Chicago, Houston, Miami and Washington, DC. His emphasis has been and continues to be “Technology as a tool for business productivity.” Prior to the inception of the phrase “MSP” Ken-Kor Consulting was providing monthly service to several clients for a fixed price. The clients liked the predicable and Ken-Kor liked being able to schedule the technician’s time. The key to the fixed price model was to determine what maintenance versus major repair or training. Along with his presentations at industry events, GFI and Autotask, he has also spoken to groups in the several U.S. cities to various organizations. His approach has always been to make the information as understandable and easy to use, so that it could be adapted and implemented by the audience. He remains an activity member of the community and may be found at many industry events in just about any corner of the nation. His quest for knowledge never leaves him short of words. He is an ardent advocate of the inclusion of minorities in the technology business. So much so, that he volunteers his time at high schools and with school age students in the Chicago area. Randolph has a BA in Government from Franklin & Marshall College and an MBA in International Business with an emphasis on Marketing from Pace University.
