CompTIA's State Procurement Committee advocates for reforms of procurement policies and procedures (in states outside of California) and also tracks procurement-related legislation in all 50 states.
The majority of the Committee's work involves taking positions on specific procurement-related bills and regulations, which help guide CompTIA's State Government Affairs team of lobbyists who advocate on behalf of our membership in state capitols throughout the country.

The SLED Council’s TX Procurement Committee met at CompTIA ChannelCon 2017 to discuss the end of the Texas legislative session, updates to the state’s contract management manual, and vendor performance scoring. Jette Withers, newly appointed Chief Procurement Officer for the state walked the group through plans to roll out enterprise training and make improvements to how agencies contract with the vendor community.

The State of Florida’s Department of Management Services has recently proposed some changes to their standard terms and conditions for state contracts. The state’s Agency for State Technology recently survived an attempt to decentralize technology funding, estimated at more than $700m annually. The proposed changes to the state’s standard terms and conditions take the state in the wrong direction. CompTIA expressed some concerns with the proposed changes and, with $700 million on the line in technology spending annually, we are hopeful that Florida hears our concerns and takes them to heart.
