CompTIA Applauds Passage of Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act

Jul 10, 2019

CompTIA, the leading trade association for the global technology industry, released the following statement from Stefanie Holland, Vice President of Federal and Global Policy, regarding the passage of the "Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act of 2019."

“The passage of the ‘Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act of 2019’ (H.R. 1044) is an important development to ensure the United States remains the global hub for innovation and economic growth. CompTIA applauds the United States House of Representatives on today’s vote, along with the leadership of House Judiciary Committee Immigration and Citizenship Subcommittee Chairwoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) and Immigration and Citizenship Subcommittee Ranking Member Ken Buck (R-CO).

"This commonsense solution will help the United States attract and retain many of the world’s brightest minds by eliminating the arbitrary per-country caps for employment-based visas. These caps create bureaucratic bottlenecks that too often prevent IT workers from creating jobs and growing the economy here in the United States simply because they were born in the wrong country.

"We urge the Senate to act soon.”
