CompTIA to Share Insights on State of the IT Channel at Channel Directions Live

Senior researchers Carolyn April and Seth Robinson will examine the many factors impacting IT channel partners

Downers Grove, Ill. – Insights on new business models, emerging technologies, evolving customer and vendor relationships and other factors impacting information technology (IT) companies will be offered by senior researchers from CompTIA, the IT industry association, at Channel Directions Live in Tampa, Fla., Sept. 28-30.

Carolyn April, senior director for industry analysis, and Seth Robinson, senior director for technology analysis, are scheduled to speak at a Channel Directions Live exclusive session titled “What It All Means” at 8:30 a.m. (EDT) on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

With five years of comprehensive research and trending data on the IT channel, CompTIA is well positioned to lead a detailed discussion on channel alliances, technology directions, business strategies and customer relationships.

“Channel partners remain a vital linchpin in this process of getting technology solutions into the hands of customers,” April said. “But their role is evolving as routes to market becomes more diverse and the field of competitors grows more crowded. We’ll examine the factors behind this shift and provide some prescriptive advice on ways channel firms can retool their business models and customer acquisition strategies.”

Much of this marketplace dynamism is driven by the widespread availability of cloud-based and mobile technology solutions. With technology more accessible and available to more users, organizations are changing their approaches and processes for choosing, implementing and managing IT.

“For example, many departments besides IT – individual business units, finance, marketing, sales and human resources – are more engaged in the discussions and decisions on technology purchases,” Robinson noted. “This change doesn’t eliminate the need for channel partners, but it does alter the manner in which channel partners engage with existing and prospective customers.”
