Free resource available to technology solutions providers; enhanced version added for CompTIA Premier Members
Downers Grove, Ill. – An assessment tool that identifies cybersecurity strengths and shortcomings in any organization is available free of charge to technology solution provider companies from CompTIA, the IT industry association.
The IT Security Assessment Wizard is an easy-to-use, yet comprehensive web-based tool that any IT solution provider can rely on to build a security profile of their customers. The end product is an accurate, comprehensive and common sense view of a customer’s unique security strengths and vulnerabilities.
CompTIA has added an enhanced version of the IT Security Assessment Wizard for its Premier Members. The enhanced version allows for customization of reports, including options for branding by individuals companies. The standard version remains available at no cost simply by registering at http://www.comptia.org/resources/it-security-assessment-wizard.
Chris Johnson, CEO of Untangled Solutions in Burlington, Iowa and chair of the CompTIA IT Security Community, which created the tool, said one of the strengths of IT Security Assessment Wizard is that it assesses and presents information in a way that’s easy for solution providers to explain and customers to understand.
“It’s conversational, that’s why it works,” said Johnson. “The output report details the strengths and weaknesses of an organization’s security readiness. It’s an eye-opener for many companies, because it clearly and concisely identifies areas of risk and the potential damage that can result from a security breach.”
As businesses transform into digital organizations, the potential to become a victim of cybercrime is heightened. Yet CompTIA’s 2015 research study Trends in Information Security found that only half of all companies surveyed believe they have a comprehensive security policy in place, according to Seth Robinson, senior director, technology research, CompTIA.
“Security breaches can severely impact operations and the cost of recovery can be substantial,” he noted.
“By engaging the services of a qualified technology solution provider equipped with our IT Security Wizard, any company can start the process of taking the prescriptive steps necessary to minimize their risk,” said noted Nancy Hammervik, senior vice president, industry relations, CompTIA.
The IT Security Assessment Wizard was developed by the CompTIA IT Security Community and draws on the collective expertise of dozens of the IT industry’s top security practitioners.
