EMEACon’s Great Line-Up Runs from Olympians to Expert Authors

Devon-HarrisOur EMEA Member and Partner Conference is fast approaching and we are looking forward to sharing two days with the IT channel. We have a great agenda set for the event with breakout sessions to educate and inspire to improve your business and the industry.

Taking place in London on the 11, 12 October, we will be welcoming a range of experts and industry figures. CompTIA CEO Todd Thibodeaux will be addressing the audience on the state of the industry via CompTIA research that helps us better understand how the industry is performing as well as the challenges we face. 

EMEACon attendees will also hear from Chris Van der Kuyl, one of the UK’s leading young entrepreneurs. Van der Kuyl started VIS Entertainment from a bedroom in Dundee, becoming a global player in the creation of cutting edge entertainment property for computer, television and video game platforms. Van der Kuyl guided his business through a merger, acquisition and NASDAQ listing and embraces the spirit of giving back to help the next generation of entrepreneurs. 

We also have marketing expert, entrepreneur and founder of the Content Marketing Institute Chris Marr imparting his knowledge and experience to help you find the right ways to build your brand, business and sales in our Marketing Master Class.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to hear award-winning journalist, broadcaster, author and former Channel 4 News editor Paul Mason discussing how because changes in IT have led us into a post-capitalist era. Mason will share his insights into the failure of our present economic model, the disruption caused to business models, the technological revolution and what the world may look like in the future.

Having spent the first ten years of his career as a professional musicologist, Mason became a freelance journalist working for titles such as Contract Journal, Community Care and Computer Weekly. As deputy editor of Computer Weekly, he was part of a team that uncovered a series of IT disasters and controversies. During the dot-com boom, Mason launched E-Business Review and was consulting editor for the launch of CW360.com.

Closing the conference, we have the inspirational three time Olympian Devon Harris, whose story is captured in the classic Disney film Cool Runnings, which told the story of the first Jamaican bobsled team.

Growing up in a volatile and violent ghetto in Jamaica, Harris had always dreamt of escaping and making more of his life for himself. A great track and field athlete, He later joined the Jamaican Defence Force and attended the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. With a little peer pressure, Harris tried out for the Jamaican bobsled team. Having attended the Olympics in ‘88, ‘92 and ’98, Harris has a great perspective on what determination and spirit is needed to overcome challenges. With his humour, experience and insight, Harris will educate the audience on the need to be resilient to get results, as well as share the story of his incredible journey.
