Wednesday, April 6, CompTIA was invited to testify before the Texas House Committee on Economic and Small Business Development at a hearing on Texas’ competitiveness with other states in recruiting and cultivating high-growth, high-tech industries, fostering economic development, and creating new jobs in the state. CompTIA shared statistics from our recently released 2016 Cyberstates report.
Overall, the report indicates a robust and growing technology industry in Texas. However, the trends highlight that while tech jobs are plentiful, the ability to fill vacancies in Texas is slowing and the state struggles with a lack of qualified applicants. To help close the skills gap, CompTIA advocated for education, training and career placement programs, which are necessary elements to successful workforce development programs and policies.
