ChannelCon’s Community Day is a once-a-year event where 8 of our communities come together for the purpose of networking, learning and making a difference. Attendees have the privilege of sampling from the very best the communities have to offer.  While there is much to be gained from the day, the sheer volume of activity can be daunting for first time attendees. Let us help you plan according to your interests, and get the most out of your day.

 

Advancing Women in IT

8:30-10:15 AM / Continental B (Lobby Level)

  • Anyone Can Be an "Intrapreneur", Miki Agrawal – Best-selling Author and Founder of WILD, Super Sprowtz, and THINX, shares real-life examples of people who positively impacted their organizations by contributing more efficient and effective ways to do business. You'll return to the workplace knowing that a "Don't Wait—Initiate" approach benefits you and everyone around you.
  • Speed Networking, bring your business cards and join in on the networking fun.
  • Table Top Discussions, Working in small groups, AWIT community members will consider actions that AWIT can take to positively impact women in IT.

IT Security

  • IT Security House of Horrors, join the IT Security Executive Council in their House of Horrors contest!  Hear from your peers about the WORST security nightmares the channel has ever seen.
  • Honoring Best Practice Security Businesses, we will be celebrating those who have achieved the Security Trustmark, and proved they can keep their customers out of the IT Security House of Horrors.

Cloud

10:30 – 12:15 PM  / Continental A (Lobby Level)

  • Building a "Born In the Cloud" Business Panel, cloud solutions affect everything in your business and are largely different from what you have sold before. Learn secrets from the best born in the cloud solutions providers and vendors.
  • Building Today’s Digital Organizations, Part 1: cloud and mobility are driving new technical solutions, but they are also changing business dynamics. Based on CompTIA’s latest research study, this session will look at the ways that companies are deciding on technical solutions.

  • The Great Services Clash: Sales Said – Tech Said, listen as both sales and tech share their unique perspective and uncover ways to work together for the good of all.
  • Round Table Discussions, dive deep into current business topics as community members share issues and discuss solutions in various areas of IT services.

Mobility

1:00 – 2:45 PM / Williford A (Third Floor)

  • Mobile Lifecycle and Recycle Business Opportunities, find out why mobility re-use and recycling is of vital importance to you and your customer.
  • Building Today’s Digital Organizations, Part 2: based on CompTIA’s research, we will continue the discussion started in the cloud community meeting looking at the business units’ perception of the IT role.  

Future Leaders

3:00 – 4:45 PM / Williford A (Third Floor)

  • Perceptions and Reality in the Intergenerational Workforce, in 2015, millennials became the largest component of the U.S. workforce. This interactive session will look at the perceptions of different generations and contrast that with CompTIA’s latest research.
  • #GenerationalDivide, this roundtable style panel will discuss positives and negative stereotypes, communication styles and how mentorship bridges the great divide. 

Managed Services

3:00 – 4:45 PM / Williford C (Third Floor)

  • Effectively Managing Your Client’s Lifecycle, the Managed Services Executive Council has developed a helpful and informative client’s lifecycle infographic just for you.  Four industry experts will present infographic topics: Marketing, Sales, Service, and How to Grow & Enhance Your Client Relationship in simultaneous mini-sessions. 
  • Honoring Managed Services Best Practice Businesses, join the Managed Services Executive Council as we recognize the MSPs who have earned the Managed Services Trustmark. 

Community and Councils Reception

5:00 – 6:00 PM / Normandie Lounge (Second Floor)

Join your industry colleagues to toast a successful day of networking, learning and making a difference.  Community representatives will be available to answer your questions.

 

Game Night Presented by the Future Leaders Community

8:00 – 10:00 PM / Continental A (Foyer)

Take on your friends and/or your competition with some old-school and new-school fun, including life-sized board games and music from the last four decades. 

 

Breakfast & Communities World Tour

Wednesday / 8:00 – 9:00 AM / International Ballroom

While not officially part of Community Day, join us for a full breakfast and a jet lag-free world tour as we hear some brief updates from our international members about all the exciting things going on in CompTIA’s thriving global communities: UK, Canada, and Australia/New Zealand.
