The amount of digital data being managed and utilized by businesses is growing at an impressive rate. Companies of all sizes are making it a top priority, relying on insight culled from this data to help steer day-to-day operations, enhance their understanding of the consumer and feeding it into various business metrics. With the proliferation of big data use across business verticals expected to continue unhindered, this research aims to reveal the drivers behind that growth and delve into its potential ramifications.
This research is also a continuation of CompTIA’s previous work focused on big data. Specifically, this study looks at changes in how businesses capture, store, manage and analyze data. It also identifies key end-user needs and challenges associated with data utilization, and gauges the familiarity and incidence rates for big data initiatives.
Data for the study was collected through an online survey distributed September-October 2015. A total of 402 professionals participated in the survey. The study is broken down into three sections:
