CompTIA members can learn more in our 2nd Annual State of IT Channel Programs.  Vendor members also can hold CompTIA channel training courses at their events for free.  Contact Blythe Girnus to get started.

How Do you Create Innovation?
Vendors at Breakaway Breakaway 2012 opened in Vegas this week with an update on CompTIA’s activities on behalf of the IT industry, a unique perspective on how innovation occurs and two compelling, real-life stories on the positive impact of technology. CompTIA President and CEO Todd Thibodeaux gave attendees a look at where the association is headed in four core areas — education, certification, advocacy and philanthropy. Much of what CompTIA will do in the coming months and years will help IT channel companies better engage with their customers, according to Thibodeaux. Which new innovations can you learn from your customers to create more business? Read more or watch the webcast of the keynote.

U.S. Presidential Candidates Need to Address Innovation
Vendors at Breakaway IT industry executives want both U.S. presidential candidates to increase their focus on key policy priorities impacting the industry, according to a new national survey commissioned by CompTIA. Noted pollster John Zogby unveiled the results of the. JZ Analytics survey at Breakaway 2012. The survey also is permeated with a sense of disengagement by the IT channel with the current political process and a significant plurality undecided with respect to which candidate would address various IT issues more effectively. How do your own political views stack up with the IT channel overall? Find out. Missed the session? Check out the webcast.

CompTIA Supports the Launch of TechFirst Political Action Committee
TechFirstThe IT industry is made up of many voices, but in Washington, D.C. the voice of the small–and medium–sized IT firm is still too quiet. During Breakaway, CompTIA is hosting the launch of TechFirst, a new bipartisan political action committee dedicated to making the voice of tech SMBs heard. The health of the entire industry — and its collective ability to innovate, grow and contribute to our nation’s global competitiveness — depends on the well-being of VARS, MSPs, start–ups, innovators and dreamers like you. Make your voice heard. Contribute at www.techfirstpac.org.

Cut through the Fog of the Cloud
Vendors at Breakaway So much hype has spun around cloud computing during the last few years, solution providers could be asking: Is this the new normal? Is every solution going to the cloud? If my firm doesn’t whip together some cloud services — and soon — are we missing something? Four veteran tech journalists explored these questions with the crowd of about 75 solution providers during a session at Breakaway yesterday. The talk was provocative and reassuring at the same time.
