Technology Transforms the Retail Sector
Google WalletAre mobile payment technologies becoming more commonplace in retail shops? To better understand and quantify tech trends in retail, CompTIA conducted a study among 500 U.S. retail businesses. Retailers have begun to experiment with emerging technologies that improve upon point-of-sale (POS) systems or leapfrog those systems altogether and leverage new platforms for payment processing. For example, 13 percent of retailers report using a mobile payment system, such as Square or Google Wallet, while another 19 percent indicate they plan to deploy this technology over the next 12 months. CompTIA & TLPAC Join Forces to Create New Southern California TechVoice Chapter
David KapposWe’re forming a new Southern California chapter of TechVoice in conjunction with locally-based TLPAC.  The new Southern California TechVoice Chapter will focus on creating and channeling a powerful grassroots voice for the IT industry.  Its first event will be hosted by Powerwave Technologies on July 23 and feature David Kappos, undersecretary of commerce and director of the US Patent and Trademark Office. Kappos will discuss intellectual property policy and the need for increased focus on STEM education for kids at all levels. Register.
