Meet IT-Ready Apprentice Program Grad Rachel Hopkins
HopkinsRachel Hopkins held a variety of customer service jobs before getting involved with CompTIA’s Creating IT Futures Foundation’s IT-Ready program. The field of information technology interested her, as did the prospect of free training and a follow-up apprenticeship. The IT-Ready program trains diverse audiences for new careers in IT, and more CompTIA members like Pomeroy, which hired Hopkins, are stepping up to offer apprenticeships that are rewarding for both the recruit and the employer. Clyde CoxCollege Finds Flexibility and Growth with Certification-centric IT Curriculum
Ten years ago, the College of DuPage, in Glen Ellyn, Ill., began to redesign its computer hardware and networking curricula to embed the goals of IT industry certifications into the program. Courses that trained students for the CompTIA A+ certification began in 2003. Senate Passes Marketplace Fairness Act; SMBs Concerned about Compliance Burden
Senate Passes... Last week, the Senate passed the Marketplace Fairness Act (MFA) by a vote of 69-27. The MFA compels online and catalog retailers, no matter where they are located, to collect sales tax at the time of a transaction and remit to states where the customer resides. TechVoice Launches New Tri-State Chapter Calling for Policies to Support Growth and Job Creation
TechVoiceLast week, technology executives met in Newark, NJ, for a tech policy networking breakfast, at which CompTIA joined with the New Jersey Technology Council, New York Technology Council and Connecticut Technology Council to announce the formation of a new tri-state chapter of TechVoice. The event featured remarks from Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker. Their participation in the event highlighted the mission of the new TechVoice chapter – creating and channeling a powerful grassroots voice for the IT industry. Learn more here»
