CompTIA UK Channel Community Unveils New Leadership for 2013
IT industry leaders will help chart course for association initiatives
London, 16 January 2013 – Seven thought-leaders representing the full breadth of the British information technology (IT) channel have been selected by CompTIA, the non-profit association for the IT industry, to fill leadership roles in the CompTIA UK Channel Community.
The CompTIA UK Channel Community provides a platform for technology resellers, distributors and vendors to work collaboratively on industry-accepted best practices, business education and resources for companies engaged in the delivery of IT services in the UK. The group was launched in early 2011 when CompTIA acquired the Technology Channels Association (TCA).
“Since its inception our UK Channel Community has been extremely active and engaged in addressing the issues affecting the IT channel and creating common sense solutions to address them,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. “We fully expect the group’s new leadership to continue with this important and inspired work in 2013.”
Lee Evans, managing director, Vital Technology Group, is the new chair of the CompTIA UK IT Channel Community. Evans works with small and medium-sized business owners and senior managers looking to outsource their IT operations.
Jim Harrower, UK & Ireland sales manager for GFI Software, will serve as community vice chair in 2013. Harrower’s career in the IT industry spans nearly 30 years. He’s held a number of positions ranging from software product development, product management, marketing and sales.
Representing UK solution providers on the community’s executive board are:
• Mark Williams, managing director, Pensar IT Management, is an experienced IT professional with over 25 years in the sector. He founded Pensar in 1996 and continues to manage the company on a day-to-day basis.
• Matt Barton, technical director, Ostrich IT Services, has two decades of experience in the IT service and support industry.
IT vendor members of the CompTIA UK IT Channel Community executive board include:
• Ian Moyse, sales director, Workbooks.com, has over 25 years of experience in the IT sector, with nine of these specialising in security and over 23 years of channel experience.
• Les Billing, sales director, netPrefect, is an IT and electronics industry veteran with over 25 years in the franchised distribution business.
Andy Dow, marketing director, Computer 2000, represents UK IT distributors on the board. Dow joined the IT industry as a reseller in the early 1980’s and has worked in various senior positions within major distributor and vendor organisations.
Activities the community has engaged in to date include the development and promotion of the IT Business Trustmark™, an entry-level quality mark for IT businesses; and the integration and promotion of Accredit UK, an advanced quality mark for it businesses. Both marks are designed specifically for the IT channel.
The community has also worked on the continuing development of resources for the IT channel, including more than 35 education guides aimed at solution providers serving small and medium-sized businesses; and created a legal resource centre housing legal templates, documents, agreements and contracts typically used by IT channel companies.
