CompTIA and Accredit UK Announce Plans to Merge
Linkage expands CompTIA’s trustmark portfolio; Accredit UK members gain access to world-class collection of business resources and tools
LONDON, 23 October 2012 – CompTIA, the global, non-profit trade association for the information technology (IT) industry, and Accredit UK, the standard of quality for information and communications technology (ICT) companies in the UK, today announced their intent to merge.
“CompTIA is spearheading this merger to strengthen its global membership reach as well as to expand its trustmark portfolio,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. “The addition of Accredit UK holder organisations to the CompTIA membership roster extends our network of highly skilled and qualified IT solution providers.”
Accredit UK credential holders benefit from the merger by gaining membership in the CompTIA UK Channel Community, which provides a platform for technology resellers, distributors and vendors to focus on developing best practices, business education and resources for companies engaged in the delivery of IT services in the UK.
Additionally, Accredit UK organisations have full access to CompTIA’s suite of channel training courses and resources; business tools, including sales and marketing templates, non-disclosure agreements and service level agreements; market intelligence, with over 15 annual studies; and discounts on CompTIA’s global certifications and credentials..
Complementary Credentials for IT Businesses
The Accredit UK standard is a proven and strong audited industry credential and the premier benchmark for ICT companies wishing to prove their procedural excellence and adherence to best practices. It is a strong companion credential to the new CompTIA IT Business Trustmark™, which validates a technology business’s ability to engage in sound business practices and provide quality service.
The CompTIA IT Business Trustmark is a foundational credential where companies self-report their business procedures and practices. The Accredit UK mark requires annual audits by an independent, qualified assessor. Together, the two credentials offer IT channel companies a progression path to attain a robust standard that is fully audited.
The Accredit UK standard will continue to be supported and available as a CompTIA Trustmark credential. The current benefits to Accredit UK holders also will continue to be supported and available to the industry.
CompTIA will integrate the Accredit UK standard into its existing Trustmark portfolio therefore continuing to manage and market the credential. CompTIA expects the integration to be complete by the end of Q1, 2013.
CompTIA offers several other vendor-neutral credentials that enable IT businesses of all sizes to prove and showcase their capabilities, including the CompTIA Security Trustmark, CompTIA MSP Partners Trustmark and CompTIA Authorized Service Center program.
CompTIA is the voice of the world’s information technology (IT) industry. Its members are the companies at the forefront of innovation; and the professionals responsible for maximizing the benefits organisations receive from their investments in technology. CompTIA is dedicated to advancing industry growth through its educational programs, market research, networking events, professional certifications, and public policy advocacy.
