CompTIA Expands CAPP Academy Programme to Middle East
Collaborative effort will improve workforce development, student employability
London, 20 August 2012 – CompTIA, the non-profit trade association for the world’s information technology (IT) industry and the leading provider of vendor-neutral skills certifications for the global IT workforce, announced today it has expanded its CompTIA Academy Partner Programme into 12 countries across the Middle East.
The CompTIA Academy Partner Programme is a robust educational initiative that assists academic institutions, non-profit organisations and government agencies to extend the reach and impact of their curricula for individuals pursuing careers in technology.
The partner programme is now available to organisations in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
“The relevance of technology in the 21st Century workplace has grown to the point where today most skilled jobs depend on IT knowledge,” said John McGlinchey, vice president, Europe and Middle East, CompTIA. “Virtually all industries require IT professionals, and they are needed in large numbers – by the tens of thousands according to most estimates.
“Our Academy Partners are our most important strategic partners because they’re on the front lines improving workforce development, student employability and delivering long-term education value,” McGlinchey continued. “We’re prepared to assist them with new resources and support. Broadening our engagement with the academic community helps CompTIA fulfill one of its primary objectives – to prepare the IT workforce of today and tomorrow.”
The goals of the CompTIA Academy Partner Programme are four-fold:
1. Supply the workforce with skilled IT professionals.
2. Prepare students for IT careers.
3. Support educational organisations
4. Offer a robust portfolio of IT curricula.
Participation in the CompTIA Academy Partner Programme is open to secondary schools, colleges, universities, other not-for-profit educational institutions and government-funded educational agencies.
Participants have access to a broad selection of resources and support to enhance their delivery of high-quality IT curricula to students, including discounts on CompTIA certification exam vouchers; marketing tools; access to industry research and other business improvement resources; complimentary product training, practice tests and exam vouchers for instructors; and access to the CompTIA IT Pro Community, a blogging and forum site designed specifically for IT professionals where students can go to learn from industry experts.
