CompTIA Introduces New Training Options for UK IT Channel Companies

Live workshops, downloadable guides and market research available

London, 18 June 2012CompTIA, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry, today announced the availability of new training resources for IT channel companies in the United Kingdom.

CompTIA UK members can access a full portfolio of channel training, including live workshops (face-to-face and online), downloadable training guides and leading market research in fast-growing technology areas such as cloud computing, IT security, managed IT servicesmanaged print services and unified communications. A limited selection of these materials is also available at no cost to non-members.

“One of CompTIA’s principle missions is to provide educational resources and tools that IT companies can use to help them improve operations, enter new markets, launch new practices and grow their businesses,” said Kelly Ricker, senior vice president, events and education, CompTIA.

“We’ve drawn on the expertise of the best and brightest in our industry to create training materials that provide comprehensive overviews of new market opportunities, industry best practices and actionable advice from those who’ve succeeded,” Ricker added. “Channel companies can combine these actionable steps with elements unique to their own businesses to create a course of action that leads to future growth and success.”

CompTIA’s Channel Training Workshops are intended to help IT solution providers build transition plans that evolve current businesses into successful niche practices. As a result of attending a CompTIA Channel Training Workshop, a solution provider can walk away with new strategies, best practices from an expert instructor, as well as peer interaction and insights. Attendees who complete the workshop earn issued a certificate of completion.

The live education offerings also include Quick Start Sessions – 45-60 minute presentations that offer solution providers a simple "how to" approach to start a new business model or practice.

CompTIA also offers at least one new expert-led webinar per month.

Downloadable training materials from CompTIA include free Quick Start Guides, which contain step-by-step instructions in a particular technology or market. Each guide provides a comprehensive overview of market opportunities, industry best practices, actionable advice from those who have been successful in that particular business segment and a valuable checklist of resources to build a successful IT practice.

Members have access to 10-Week Guides, which lead solution providers through a series of steps to get that part of their business up and running. Using best practices from industry experts and leaving room for their own value-added elements, these guides provide actionable steps and a course of action that help ensure a solution provider's success.

CompTIA market research is also available to CompTIA members. These comprehensive studies detail business attitudes, purchase plans and technology preferences so solution providers can plan their selling strategy. Recent studies include coverage of the markets for unified communications, cloud computing, virtualization, security, managed IT services and print and document management.
