Element K Steps Up To Provide Training for Vets & the Disadvantaged Across Multiple Tech Sectors

Green IT and Tech Basic Training Included in Donation to the CompTIA Educational Foundation

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., June 8, 2010 - Aiding military veterans, military spouses, the disadvantaged and disabled individuals, Element K donated more than 500 online training seats to the CompTIA Educational Foundation's Creating Futures program.

Element K's training covers a multitude of tech areas, helping industry entrants get up to speed on tech basics through CompTIA's Strata IT Fundamentals and CompTIA A+; enhancing the skills of current IT students with CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Project + and CompTIA Security +; and allowing program participants to join the emergent green IT sector with a Strata Green IT certificate.

With nearly 30 years in training and development, Element K provides learning solutions that enable organizations to develop employees, support partners, and educate customers. Its online certification training will prepare learners for these rigorous certifications, with courses mapping to the prerequisites of each exam.

Creating Futures provides training and certification at no costs for military veterans, military spouses, the disabled, minorities, women, at-risk youth and dislocated workers. Nearly 400 people in need are training currently for a new tech career with Creating Futures, and the foundation aims to have 1,000 in training and/or certified by year's end.

“With Element K’s donation, we can stretch our training curriculum to accommodate various levels of people looking to either enter the IT industry or improve their current tech skills,” said Charles Eaton, executive director of the CompTIA Educational Foundation.  “As our online applications increase, we know the need continues to mount as more individuals look to build a secure career.  Every donation counts and enables us to build a robust tech workforce for the industry.”

“Technical certifications are among the best methods to market yourself and stand out from other job candidates,” said Paul Krause, CEO, Element K. “We're pleased to work with the CompTIA Educational Foundation to help more individuals gain the training and certifications they need for their careers.”

Individuals and companies can make a donation and prospective participants can apply for training by visiting the CompTIA Educational Foundation website, http://www.CompTIA-EF.org.
