CompTIA Educational Foundation Honors Certiport for Industry Stewardship

Las Vegas, Nev., August 6, 2009 - The CompTIA Educational Foundation honored Certiport for its “Outstanding Leadership Support” with an award during the CompTIA 2009 Breakaway conference in Las Vegas last night.

Earlier this year, Certiport Inc. generously donated $120,000 worth of online computer training and exams to CompTIA Educational Foundation's Creating Futures Program. The donation is allowing Creating Futures to provide additional free IT training to populations who have historically been under-represented in the IT workforce, including U.S. veterans, individuals with disabilities, women, minorities, at-risk youth and dislocated workers.

Certiport donated learning and certification bundles of Certiport Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3), including benchmark pre-assessment, mentor, on-demand learning and certification exams. IC Digital Literacy certification prepares participants with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the 21st century job market.

"The lack of fundamental digital literacy challenges the economic stability and inclusivity of communities and the welfare of families and individuals. Certiport IC3 is the first step to empowering individuals to pursue a meaningful career, especially in IT-related fields," said Ray Kelly, president and CEO, Certiport Inc. "These skills then can be enhanced by the addition of CompTIA A+ certification to lead to jobs within the IT sector."

Training, mentoring, courseware, practice exams, and certification vouchers are provided at no cost to Creating Futures participants. All candidate applications for the Creating Futures program are screened before selection.

“Certiport exemplifies the kind of leadership and stewardship the IT industry needs to diversify its workforce and help more individuals launch an IT career,” said John Venator, president and CEO, CompTIA Educational Foundation. “We challenge more companies to step up to the plate and help individuals in need better their lives. The more companies donate, the more people we can reach and train – it’s that simple. Our industry has the jobs open, but we need trained professionals to fill them.”

The CompTIA Educational Foundation aims to attract $1 million in fundraising this year which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by CompTIA. Donations can be in cash, equipment or training seats. All gifts are 100 percent tax-deductible. Individuals and companies can make a donation to the program, and veterans can apply for training by visiting the Foundation's website, http://www.comptia-ef.org.
