CompTIA Recognized as Among Best Places to Work in Illinois for Second Straight Year
Downers Grove, Ill., May 19, 2012 – CompTIA, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry, has been selected as one of the Best Places to Work in Illinois in 2012. It marks the second consecutive year CompTIA has achieved a spot on the list.
The Best Places to Work in Illinois list includes small, medium and large companies, for-profit business and not-for-profit organizations. The program, which began in 2006, is promoted by The Daily Herald Business Ledger in partnership with the Human Resources Management Association of Chicago, the Society for Human Resource Management – Illinois State Council and the Workforce Boards of Metropolitan Chicago. The program is managed by Best Companies Group.
“We’re extremely pleased and honored to earn a spot on the Best Places to Work list this year, alongside all these other worthy organizations who contribute so much to Illinois’ standing as a good place to do business,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. “We strive each day to make CompTIA a workplace that keeps people energized and enthused about their careers and enables them to maintain a healthy balance between their work and home lives.”
To be considered for the Best Places to Work in Illinois list companies must meet the following eligibility requirements:
• Have at least 15 employees working in Illinois.
• Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity.
• Be a publicly or privately held business.
• Have a facility in the state of Illinois.
• Be in business a minimum of one year.
CompTIA, selected in the small/medium-sized employer category, has been headquartered in Illinois since 1985. The association moved to its current location in Downers Grove in December 2010. CompTIA employs 83 people in Illinois and 165 people worldwide.
CompTIA and the other honorees were recognized May 18 at the Best Places to Work in Illinois awards ceremony coordinated by The Daily Herald Business Ledger. All winning companies and organizations will be profiled in a future special publication by The Daily Herald Business Ledger.
Companies across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Illinois. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation.
The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience, worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Illinois and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
