The Advancing Women in IT Community is dedicated to empowering women with the knowledge and skills necessary to help their pursuit of successful IT careers, as well as to inspire women to enter the IT field as a career choice. The community is a vital information resource, provides mentorship and networking opportunities, develops member-driven initiatives and programs, is active in legislation involving women and careers, and is actively involved in pursing the overall objectives of the CompTIA – ECAP (education, certification, advocacy and philanthropy). Members of this group are women who are currently in or aspire to be in IT careers and men who support this mission.

Advancing Women in IT Community Staff Leader

Cathy Alper is the IT Services and Support Community manager for CompTIA, with more than 20 years of technology training and organizational development experience. She is responsible for facilitating meetings, organizing discussions and securing CompTIA resources to advance group initiatives.

Alper holds a Masters degree in Human Development and Family Relations from the University of Connecticut and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin. She joined CompTIA after several years as a business consultant specializing in the creation and maintenance of high-performance work environments. Her wealth of technology experience also includes stints at Metavante, Allied Computer Group, Deluxe Corporation, and MECC. Alper holds a number of skills certifications and is a former Vice President of the American Society of Training and Development, SE Wisconsin Chapter and chair of the Organization Development Professional Practice Group.
