IT Business Growth Professionals can be a critical component of the success of solution providers as well as vendors and distributors. This is especially true with small entrepreneurs, who are typically technology focused and have a great need for industry and business knowledge that can help them address the challenges they face on the path to growth and success.  The IT Business Growth Professionals (BGPs) Community focuses on creating more awareness of BGPs, advancing the professionalism of BGPs, and creating best practices and tools for working with clients.

IT Business Growth Professionals Community Staff Leader

Kirk Smallwood Kirk Smallwood is vice president of strategic relationships for the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). He is responsible for identifying and recruiting board members, building and recruiting for critical Special Interest Groups (SIGs), strengthening executive-level awareness of CompTIA among major IT companies and nurturing relationships which build the association's base and depth through partners.

Before joining CompTIA in February 2009, Mr. Smallwood was director of sales operations for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). For most of his 13 years at the Virginia-based trade association, he was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the business development team, which produced approximately 95% of the association's annual revenue. Most of this revenue was generated through the International Consumer Electronics Show, one of the world's largest consumer technology trade shows, which grew from 900,000 net square feet of exhibit space, to more than 1.8 million square feet during his tenure.

Mr. Smallwood holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA.
