Tech Leaders Flock to Chicago in April
Pearson VUE and Xerox Title Sponsors for IT Industry Charity Event
Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., March 23, 2010 - More than 180 technology leaders already have registered for CompTIA’s inaugural Annual Member Meeting and will participate in the CompTIA Educational Foundation’s First Annual Creating Futures Charity Miniature Golf Classic. The mini-golf event will take place during the Opening Reception of the Annual Member Meeting, April 7, at Swissotel in Chicago, Ill.
Pearson VUE recently joined Xerox as a title sponsor for the golf event where CompTIA members and technology leaders will help fund training for the disadvantaged and disabled. During the event, attendees can network with their partners and match shots with George McLeod, the second highest ranked professional mini-golfer, as determined by the U.S. ProMiniGolf Association.
All event proceeds fund the Foundation’s Creating Futures program which provides career opportunities to military veterans, dislocated workers, minorities, women, youth at risk and individuals with disabilities. Last year, the Foundation helped 854 individuals in need receive IT training and career-counseled more than 13,400 people.
"Pearson could not be more proud of the work the Educational Foundation is doing in helping, among others, veterans returning from service and dislocated workers secure exciting futures within the IT industry." said Randy Trask, senior vice president of market development at Pearson VUE. "As one of the leading IT publishers and certification testing companies, we are thrilled to be able to give something back to an industry that has been so good to us. We strongly encourage other firms within our industry to contribute generously to the Educational Foundation as their mission has never been more vital as an ever-increasing number of potential recipients look to improve their lives."
While highlighting the Educational Foundation, CompTIA’s first Annual Member Meeting allows its members to get more deeply involved with the association and help define the direction the IT industry will take. CompTIA’s new communities also meet to build partnerships, share best practices, and address specific business issues. Some of the sessions to be featured this April include candid discussions about where the channel is headed and how CompTIA can pave the way; proven approaches to vertical and niche security markets; and what IT solution providers need to do to capitalize on cloud computing.
“The top leaders in the technology channel are expected at the Annual Member Meeting, and these same leaders understand that in order to make the industry more robust, we need to enable more people to join,” said John Venator, president and CEO of the CompTIA Educational Foundation. “Through Creating Futures, we’re helping more individuals in need launch a tech career. We can’t thank our sponsors enough for their generous support.”
