Tech Leaders to Network at Creating Futures Charity Miniature Golf Classic in April
CompTIA Members Join in the Fun and Match Shots with George McLeod, Pro Mini-Golfer
Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., March 5, 2010 - CompTIA members and technology leaders will network and help fund training for the disadvantaged and disabled during the CompTIA Educational Foundation’s First Annual Creating Futures Charity Miniature Golf Classic on April 7. The mini-golf event will take place during the Opening Reception of CompTIA’s Annual Member Meeting at Swissotel in Chicago, Ill.
During the event, attendees can match shots with George McLeod, the second highest ranked professional mini-golfer, as determined by point totals on the U.S. ProMiniGolf Association national ranking list. McLeod began his pro career in 1995 and last July took home the first-place trophy in the seniors division of the U.S. Open. He’s played in more than 60 pro events and consistently finishes in the top five.
Xerox and Intronis already have signed up to sponsor the Creating Futures Charity Miniature Golf Classic. CompTIA expects approximately 200 information technology (IT) leaders to attend the event as part of its first Annual Member Meeting. The sole branding opportunity for companies at this new industry conference is to sponsor the Miniature Golf Classic.
All sponsorship proceeds fund the Foundation’s Creating Futures program which provides career opportunities to groups of people historically under-represented in the IT industry, including U.S. military veterans, individuals with disabilities, minorities, women, at-risk youth and dislocated workers. Last year, the Foundation helped 854 individuals in need receive IT training and career-counseled more than 13,400 people.
“The Annual Member Meeting will bring together the thought-leaders within the IT industry, and through the social activities at the conference such as the Miniature Golf Classic, vendors, customers, partners and friends have time to relax, play and give back to the industry,” said John Venator, president and CEO of the CompTIA Educational Foundation. “Attendees and sponsors gain great exposure and networking all at the same time.”
Golf sponsorships run $1,500 and include recognition on the Foundation and Member Meeting websites and event marketing materials, and usage of the Foundation logo on the sponsor’s website as a proud supporter. To double their brand exposure and networking time, companies can sign up to be a joint sponsor of the Foundation’s charity golf events at both CompTIA’s April Member Meeting and August Breakaway Conference for only $3,000.
Charity event sponsors secure networking time with their key partners in an entertaining environment, reap extra exposure to CompTIA members and the media through event marketing, help individuals in need achieve rewarding life-long IT careers, and meet their philanthropic goals, while gaining tax benefits.
