Seven IT Industry Leaders Elected to CompTIA Educational Foundation Board of Directors for 2010
Randy Trask of Pearson VUE Joins the Board
Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., December 17, 2009 - The CompTIA Educational Foundation confirmed its 2010 Board members. These members lead the information technology (IT) industry in shepherding the philanthropic activities of CompTIA, particularly in helping individuals in need get the training and certification they need to gain an IT career.
Bob O’Malley, president and CEO of InFocus, will remain as chairman of the board for 2010. Jim Wittry, vice president of sales for ISYS Technologies, was promoted from director to vice chair of the board. Gary Gillam, vice president of channel operations for Xerox Corp., and Oli Thordarson, CEO of Alvaka Networks, remain on the board as secretary and treasurer respectively. Other members include Brian Wiser, senior vice president of sales and vendor management for Ingram Micro, as the board’s past president; Wayne Mize, vice president of the Netsource Business Center for Ricoh Corp., as a director; and Randy Trask, vice president of market development at Pearson VUE, joining the board for the first time as a director.
“Our industry remains strong by the active participation of its leaders to give back and help more people enter it. We become more diverse and successful as new blood enters our industry,” said John Venator, president and CEO of the CompTIA Educational Foundation. “These seven board members have given us great support as we surpassed our goals this year – training 825 individuals in need for an IT career. In 2010, we have our sights set even higher, and we can only achieve our objectives with the support of our generous board members. I thank them for giving us their time, talents and expertise.”
The Foundation provides career opportunities to groups of people historically under-represented in the IT industry, including U.S. military veterans, individuals with disabilities, minorities, women, at-risk youth and dislocated workers. The program works with employers to identify their hiring needs, then tailors education and training programs to help individuals obtain the skills the employers are looking for to enable them to secure IT careers.
