CompTIA Educational Foundation to Present Seminar on Matching IT Training to Corporate Needs at ACTE Convention
Nov. 19 Seminar in Nashville Showcases Real-Life Case Studies
Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., November 12, 2009 - The CompTIA Educational Foundation will present a seminar, entitled “Gear Training to Real-Life, Real-Time Corporate Needs,” next Thursday, November 19, at the Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE) Convention in Nashville, Tenn.
“New technology comes at us too fast, altering business requirements, to not have training that changes just as fast,” said Amy Alexander, program manager for the CompTIA Educational Foundation and speaker at the ACTE Convention. “During our session, attendees can learn from our case studies and see how to make sure their students’ training fits real-life, real-time needs.”
For more than a decade, the CompTIA Educational Foundation has been helping individuals with disabilities, military veterans, minorities, youth-at-risk and dislocated workers achieve rewarding careers in information technology (IT). The Foundation assists individuals in obtaining the training, education and skills they need for life-long, IT careers – not just jobs.
Through industry research, the Foundation determines emerging skills that individuals must possess to work on the latest technologies. This knowledge helps to develop programs that produce properly skilled workers for the latest, in-demand IT jobs.
Unlike most career-assistance programs, the Foundation’s Creating Futures program works with employers to find needs within their company, and then provides individuals with the training to fit those needs. It goes beyond offering monetary support by allowing individuals to overcome barriers to employment and employers the ability build a qualified and diverse workforce.
All candidate applications are screened before selected for the program. Training, mentoring, courseware, practice exams, and certification vouchers are provided at no cost to these individuals. Program participants train toward CompTIA certifications — which are known throughout the industry as reliable predictors of employee success and are therefore the best way to break into the IT field and build a solid career.
The session is in the Gaylord Opryland, Ryman Ballroom C, from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 19. Attendees can register for the convention at www.acteonline.org.
Individuals and companies can make a donation and prospective participants can apply for training by visiting the CompTIA Educational Foundation Web site, http://www.CompTIA-EF.org.
