CompTIA Educational Foundation Urges Industry to Sponsor IT Training & Certification for Military Veterans

Downloadable Holiday Cards Honor Clients, Partners & Employees for their Donations

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., November 2, 2009 - Nearly 550 U.S. military veterans received free information technology (IT) training and certification this year from the CompTIA Educational Foundation.

“That’s a 66% annual increase, but even more vets need our help,” said John Venator, president and CEO of the CompTIA Educational Foundation. “Of those veterans that received training this year, 39% were disabled veterans. Our military veterans gave their all to help safeguard the American dream. Now it’s time to help them realize their own dreams as they transition from military service to the business world.”

The CompTIA Educational Foundation is urging the industry to honor employees, partners and clients this holiday season by supporting IT training and certification for military veterans through donations to its Creating Futures program.

Creating Futures provides career opportunities to groups of people historically under-represented in the IT industry, including military veterans, individuals with disabilities, minorities, women, at-risk youth and dislocated workers. Training, mentoring, courseware, practice exams, and certification vouchers are provided at no cost to these individuals. Creating Futures participants train toward CompTIA certifications — which are known throughout the IT industry as reliable predictors of employee success and are therefore some of the best ways to break into the IT field.

“Donations to the Foundation meet a company’s philanthropic goals, while gaining tax benefits and showing commitment to the industry’s future growth,” added Venator.

To commemorate a company’s donation and help spread news of how others can donate, donors can download customizable holiday card artwork at www.CompTIA-EF.org.

Plus, the 100% tax-deductible donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by CompTIA – allowing a company’s or individual’s donation to work double-time.

Individuals and companies can make a donation and prospective participants can apply for training by visiting the CompTIA Educational Foundation Web site, http://www.CompTIA-EF.org.
