Randy Trask of Pearson VUE Named Creating Futures 2010 Golf Tournament Chair

Save the Date for August 9, 2010 Golf Tournament at TPC San Antonio

Randy TraskOakbrook Terrace, Ill., October 7, 2009 - The CompTIA Educational Foundation named Randy Trask, vice president, market development, Pearson VUE, as General Chair for its 2010 Creating Futures Charity Golf Classic. The event will run August 9, 2010, at the TPC San Antonio golf course, during CompTIA’s annual Breakaway conference.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Foundation’s Creating Futures program which provides training and certification opportunities to populations who have historically been under-represented in the information technology (IT) workforce, including U.S. veterans, individuals with disabilities, women, minorities, at-risk youth and dislocated workers. Creating Futures works with employers to identify their hiring needs, then tailors its training to help individuals obtain the skills employers require.

“We’re thrilled to have Randy on board to lead this major industry networking and fundraising event,” commented John Venator, president and CEO, CompTIA Educational Foundation. “We hope to help even more people next year enter our industry through training and certification, but we can do it only with the industry’s support of cash and in-kind gifts.”

“As a big supporter of the CompTIA Educational Foundation’s Creating Futures program for several years, I have seen the program grow to where thousands of people are receiving the help they need to start a career in IT,” said Trask. “The Charity Golf Classic is a major source of funding to help all the people who want to join our industry. I am honored to be named the 2010 Creating Futures Charity Golf Tournament General Chair and look forward to working with all our sponsors, volunteers and staff to provide the best possible experience for our guests.”

The past three Creating Futures Charity Golf Classics have raised more than $466,000 in total from sponsors and the CompTIA Board matching program. The events allow IT leaders to have hours of one-on-one time with their key partners. Event sponsors for 2010 can invite their partners to play golf at TPC San Antonio, a brand new golf course that opens next year. Breakaway attendees also can buy foursomes to play in the golf tournament.

Beyond meeting their philanthropic goals and receiving tax benefits, event sponsors reap extra exposure to CompTIA members, Breakaway attendees and the media through the CompTIA Educational Foundation’s pre-show and on-site marketing of the event.

Individuals and companies can make a donation to Creating Futures, and prospective participants can apply for training by visiting the Foundation’s website, http://www.CompTIA-EF.org. For more golf sponsorship information, contact Dennis Zimmerman at DZimmerman@CompTIA-EF.org.
