CompTIA Educational Foundation IT Merit Awards Open for Fall Nominations
Two Levels of Scholarships Available – Deadline of November 15
Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., September 15, 2009 - Nominations for the CompTIA Educational Foundation’s fall IT Merit Awards are open. The Foundation presents scholarships worth $250 each to 15 students nationwide who are pursuing careers in the IT industry. The Foundation also will give out new $500 awards, the Dorianne and John Venator IT Merit Award Scholarships, to 10 community or technical college students who are more advanced in their IT studies.
The IT Merit Award Scholarship program recognizes outstanding accomplishments by students and adult learners in both the CompTIA Education to Careers (E2C) and CompTIA Learning Alliance (CLA) programs who have trained for and received CompTIA certification. The Foundation has granted more than 400 of these scholarships since 2001. The Dorianne and John Venator IT Merit Award Scholarships, established this past April, are awarded in honor of former CompTIA President and CEO John Venator and his wife Dorianne for their 20 years of service to the IT industry.
To be eligible for an award, students must have received their training from, or currently be enrolled in training offered by a CompTIA educational member organization, such as a high school; community or technical college; not-for-profit; or government training program. The student nominee also must have received a CompTIA certification recently.
CompTIA is the IT industry’s largest developer of vendor-neutral IT certification exams. Its certifications are recognized worldwide as a trusted indicator of qualified and competent professionals in the IT industry. Since establishing the certification program in 1993, more than 1 million people have earned a CompTIA certification.
Organizations and instructors can nominate an eligible student for the scholarships at http://www.comptia-ef.org/training/merit.aspx. Nominations must be submitted on or before November 15.
