LeapFox Learning Offers Free IT Training this Fall in Meridian, Idaho, through the CompTIA Educational Foundation

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., August 26, 2009 - LeapFox Learning partnered with the CompTIA Education Foundation to enable free information technology training for U.S. military veterans, youth at-risk, dislocated workers and individuals with disabilities in Meridian, Idaho, this fall.

The Foundation’s Creating Futures program offers training and vouchers for CompTIA certifications to help individuals build a solid tech career. CompTIA certifications are known throughout the IT industry as reliable predictors of employee success and are therefore some of the best ways to break into the IT field.  Creating Futures provides career opportunities to groups of people historically under-represented in the IT industry, including military veterans, individuals with disabilities, minorities, women, at-risk youth and dislocated workers.  All candidate applications are screened before selection for the program.

LeapFox Learning donated six training seats, worth $13,500, to the Foundation which will help to identify individuals to fill those seats.  Individuals can take the following LeapFox Learning classes offered this fall:

  • LeapFox Learning’s CompTIA A+ Essentials course helps students prepare for CompTIA A+ certification which validates the latest skills needed by computer support professionals, and confirms a technician's ability to perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.
  • In LeapFox Learning’s CompTIA A+ IT Technician course, students learn how to support PC hardware in a business setting, including installation, troubleshooting, and component replacement.
  • To prepare for CompTIA Network+ certification, LeapFox Learning’s CompTIA Network+ course teaches students how to identify and describe all the major networking technologies, systems and skills used in modern PC-based computer networks.

"In today’s tough economy, job seekers need every edge they can get to boost their chances of employment.  The IT industry continues to expand and companies continually need to hire IT staff to keep their businesses running efficiently.  CompTIA certifications prove to an employer that a prospective technician can handle the job,” said Debbie Nolan, director, LeapFox Learning.  “Partnering with the CompTIA Educational Foundation is an easy way for us to help more individuals move into the tech field and change their lives for the better with a solid career.”

“Already we’ve helped more than 600 people in need jumpstart their IT careers nationwide,” commented John Venator, president and CEO, CompTIA Educational Foundation.  “With generous donations like that of LeapFox Learning’s, we can continue to reach more individuals and help them gain worthwhile employment through training and certification.”

Donations to the CompTIA Educational Foundation can be in cash, equipment or training seats.  All gifts are 100 percent tax-deductible.  Individuals and companies can make a donation to the program, and prospective participants can apply for training by visiting the Foundation’s Web site, http://www.CompTIA-EF.org.
